I like how the author makes the material very relatable, without talking down to the reader. Not many writers can manage that nowadays.
I recommend this book because of the author's unique take on the origins of myth and religion. He has some fresh ideas and he goes into quite a bit of detail in supporting his arguments and describing the natural events to which he is referring. For that the book was well-worth buying and reading. However, he appears to dismiss the contributions of others on this subject who have centred their writings on other natural or historical events, or those authors coming from a psychological perspective. For readers who are interested in a more objective look at spirituality, mythology and religion I would say that this book has it's place but it isn't the end-all or be-all. It is interesting but limited. The book is not written in a particularly engaging style, so the reader would need to have an interest in the subject matter itself to find it a good read.
This is a fairly quick read. It is interesting to see a completely different take on religion. Likening everything to Volcano's is thought provoking and the author does a good job of explaining his theories.
I had high hopes for this book because of the title, but was quickly disappointed when the author says he tried to get it published for over a decade and then finally self published it. A few pages later he says, “I purposely ignore the mathematical and astronomical correlations that have been claimed for the Great Pyramids.” How rediculous to throw out all scientific thought to promote his far-fetched ideas.
I forced myself to read half the book, then skimmed some of the rest. In intelligent and scientific books, the author does not use first person pronouns so often. There is too much boring and repetitive parts. His theory is stretch so thin it becomes rediculous.
There is no proof presented. It’s all his ideas. From pages 18 to 23, let me list words and phrases that show how unproven this is apparently, probably, perhaps, may have been, may have been, might have been, may have reminded them, may represent, was probably, is entirely possible, perhaps, it may seem obvious, there seems to have been, it may be, could be considered, sound to me like, may refer to, referring perhaps, is probably, it sounds to me like, may refer, sounds here like, are probably. It is the whole book is written. Now that’s a lot of uncertainty and conjecture in a book that is trying to prove something.
Yet the author says on page 4, “Who should read this book? Anyone who is intellectually courageous. Anyone who wants some clarity on some of the fundamental questions of our age. Anyone who wants to understand the beginnings of religion and science. This book could be used in a class on critical thinking, comparative religions, anthropology, psychology or the history of science and religion...” Not this book!
I wasted money on this book. It is going in the trash.

1. Some may object to some speculation but I conclude that some of it was necessary and the author does a wonderful job of using converging knowledge to connect the dots. Well done!
In summary, the best way to describe this book is to compare it to a great independent movie. It may not have the budget, the polish, the backing of a major distributor but it has a great story propelled by the love and curiosity of its author. I enjoyed this book because it provides a unique look at religion and science and does so with very strong compelling arguments. I highly recommend it!

Contrary to popular belief God did not create man - On the other hand Man created God as a crutch for himself during his difficult times. A very rationalist view point.
